Khadi Silk Cotton

A Brief History of Traditional Indian Wear

In the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh is the birthplace of this traditional Indian artwork of Khadi, and hence, this artwork is also popular by the name Lucknow Khadi. It is believed that Noor Jahan, Jehangir's wife, brought this unique needle-artwork with her to India. Ages ago, Khadi hand embroidery was first done on white muslin fabric with white thread.

With fashion’s evolution, Khadi embroidery has also welcomed vibrant threads on diverse fabrics like cotton, silk, and denim. The art, known for its delicate details and striking colors, continues to shine as a "symbol of Indian heritage."
